It has a strong peppery and pungent odor. Its rich and spicy taste is slightly peppery. It is a good aid in digestion, and has antiseptic and toning properties. It perfumes dishes based on pulses such as beans and broad beans. It seasons grilled meats, sauces and soups and goes well with fresh goat cheese.
