The history of La Rochère begins in 1475. Simon de Thysac started a glassworks in "Les Rochiers" and was granted the right, the deed of which is recorded in the national archives of France. Les Rochiers is nestled deep in the woods in beautiful Haute Saône, where the art of fire and earth was born. In 1858 the glassworks was taken over by François-Xavier Fouillot. To this day, his descendants still run the glass factory.
La Rochère has been producing artisanal glass for over 500 years, making the factory the oldest traditional art glassworks in Europe. Since 1475, the master glassblowers have been creating authentic products in the field of professional glassware for gastronomy. The company is recognized around the world for designing and manufacturing high quality French style glass for today's modern household, in collaboration with several design studios. The factory employs approximately 145 people, 7 of whom are master glassblowers. In 2009, the factory was awarded the "Living Heritage Company" label.
