Life according to them is a collaborative independent publishing house, created by Anne Wehr, author and illustrator, based on equity and sorority, which aims to promote new writing, in new formats, with always more new ideas.
Fair and modern: the artists involved in the projects (authors, illustrators, AD, graphic designer, etc.) are all fairly remunerated (a salary and a % for the authors and illustrators). Operation based on collaboration, pre-orders ensure financing of the production and the actors of the project, make it possible not to go through classic distribution (35% of the budget of classic publishing houses) and to promote artists/projects in real communication campaigns .
Solidarity and feminist: the house and its actors are mostly female (feminist men who respect women are accepted) and in total and permanent support for women. Hence the collaborations, % donated to associations with the aim of supporting women to different degrees, in different fields. To date, we have supported Plan International France and Entourage, via We give collab.
Ethical and responsible: we work with local actors as far as possible. Everything is created in Paris, with attention and love, hence the “slower” creation times than the others. The cards are created in France and the boxes (superb!) in Italy, because the French productions brought us to costs without any margin. Also, nothing other than the products we sell is printed (no email, no Excel table, no order ends up in a trash can!).
