Calcium and Vitamin D help reduce the loss of bone mineral density in postmenopausal women. Low bone mineral density is a risk factor for osteoporotic fractures. Specifically concerns women over the age of 50 and over. The beneficial effect is obtained through a daily consumption of at least 1200mg of calcium and 20 micrograms of vitamin D from all sources.
