Located south of Villecroze, in the Haut-Var, Le Barretian is an old hamlet nestled in the heart of a wooded and hilly landscape. It was reborn in 2016 with the ambition to showcase its terroir through characterful wines and an AOP olive oil under the brand "Le Barretian".
Between 2019 and 2020, we planted a vineyard of nine grape varieties spread across four plots with distinct climatic and geological profiles. The stony clay-limestone soils give the wines a beautiful minerality. In addition to the traditional grape varieties of the Coteaux Varois en Provence PDO, Sangiovese, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are also used, reflecting the diversity of our terroir. Our wines, in IGP Var – Coteaux du Verdon or in AOP Coteaux Varois en Provence, express the identity of each grape variety and each plot.
Our olive oil is made primarily from the local varieties Aglandau, Cayon and Bouteillan. Harvested early between October and December, the olives are hand-sorted and then cold-pressed to preserve their green fruity aromas, with notes of fresh grass, artichoke and green tomato. Each batch is tasted before blending to guarantee quality and consistency. Our fruity black olive oil, Black Alpha, comes from a controlled fermentation that develops more complex aromas of candied olive or tapenade.
From the vineyard to the olive grove, we control the entire production process, without external input, in order to offer authentic wines and oils, produced using organic farming methods, faithful to their origin and to the spirit of Barretian: a terroir, a history and a permanent quest for excellence.
