Buckthorn is a shrub measuring 2 to 6 meters that grows mainly in humid areas. The oval, dark green leaves turn red in autumn. Tiny white flowers in corollas appear in late spring. They are followed in October-November by small fleshy and spherical fruits, red, blackening when ripe and appreciated by birds. The bees forage the flowers over a short period stretching from the end of May to mid-June. Woody taste and dark color. In tasting, on a toast with salted butter or with a spoon for the pleasure of its very particular taste.
