Gayettes du Pays Noir® are dark chocolates like coal, which trace the mining past of the Charleroi region. Founded 30 years ago, Les Gayettes quickly became a resounding success. Immerse yourself in the story of a crunchy and melt-in-the-mouth confectionery that will delight young and old alike!
The Charleroi region has a rich mining past. Even if the collieries have now disappeared, they remain etched in our memories and are an integral part of our Belgian heritage. 30 years ago, some shopkeepers in Charleroi expressed a wish to Mr. Blancke: they wanted a confectionery representing their city and making it possible to revive part of its history. Mr. Blancke founded in 1987, the Gayettes. Nancy, Master chocolatier, took over the Gayettes du Pays Noir in 2004.
It is in this context that Les Gayettes® were born, a model and a trademark registered since 1987.
In 2004, the chocolate factory left Braine-le-Château for Hénuères and took on a new form, under the name of “Chocolaterie Les Gayettes”.
