Lovegrass Ethiopia

Lovegrass Ethiopia, founded by the entrepreneurial couple Magdalena and Yonas Alemu, is on a quest to popularize the use of teff, an ancient Ethiopian supergrain. Their mission extends beyond delivering highly nutritious, gluten-free, teff-based food; it's about creating a culinary bridge between Ethiopian farmers, who continue to work the land using traditional methods, and Western consumers yearning for authentic, back-to-basics foods with a profound positive impact on their health and society at large. Lovegrass Ethiopia's story is one of connecting people through a shared love for wholesome teff-based traditional food and a commitment to social responsibility. Yonas, hailing from an Ethiopian rural farming community, moved to Europe on a university scholarship where he and Magdalena met. They both spent 17 years working in London's finance sector. In 2014, the couple discovered teff – an Ethiopian traditional grain – being sold in the UK, inspiring them to create Lovegrass Ethiopia. Motivated by a desire to uplift Ethiopian rural farming communities and share the health benefits of Ethiopian teff to the world, Yonas and Magdalena started the first phases of teff based product development in their own family's kitchen. They then started collaborating with hundreds of Ethiopian rural farming households assisting in agricultural yield improvement. They now offer a range of healthy and nutritious teff-based products manufactured at source, in Ethiopia.
