Discovering Indian Malas
The idea for our first jewelry pieces came about during a trip to India, when we discovered Buddhist prayer beads used for reciting mantras.
Malaco (Mala Company) was then born and we started the brand with wooden jewelry and lucky charm pompoms.
On the Stone Trail
It was during a second trip, to California, that we discovered semi-precious stones and their many virtues. Despite the considerable number of stones that can be found, it is impossible to get your hands on a pretty piece of jewelry with your favorite stone. We had to simply hang our stone around a thread to keep it around our necks.
Then begins a lot of research, traveling through multiple countries to find a piece of jewelry that we like with our favorite stone.
This research leads us to the same conclusion: No pretty piece of jewelry with a lucky stone.
We decide to create it ourselves...
Malaco then took a new turn and the desire to orient our collections around these stones came to life in order to associate aesthetics with their numerous benefits.
