We've taken one of the most iconic flavors of Messinia, the orange and cumin combination found in the famous Messinian country sausage and put it in a jar, sans the meat of course!. The end result is a flavorful and aromatic combination that is sweet , tart and full of amazing orange flavor with the warmth of delicious spices. Use it on meats , cheeses, as a dressing in a salad or even in cheese sandwich to elevate it to the best cheese sandwich of your life. It is a 2 star Great taste award winner! What the judjes said: * A really interesting product that grew on the judges the more they tasted it. Very fresh tasting with vibrant fruit, enhanced by the vinegar and given great depth of flavour from the spices. Initially the judges weren't sure about the bitterness from the zest, but came to really enjoy it and could see how well it would complement richer spicy food. * A deep orange colour with a grainy thick texture. This tastes very orangey with a slight burnt edge. We can detect cumin and mustard seeds and the spices are well judged. There is also a good balance between sweetness and acidity. * There's a wonderful fresh aroma from the oranges that carries through the vinegar sourness. Great flavour - but we would have preferred larger pieces of orange skin/pith. Sweetness level just right. * A new approach to chutney - simply minced oranges. The flavour is very fresh and the balance of spices - mustard seed and cumin -added to the vinegar complements the sweet oranges with a savoury kick. A versatile product for cold food and would go well with hot foods too, fish? chicken? more? Additionally this is not an over-sweet chutney. * We thought this orange chutney was quite intriguing, with its fresh juiciness of orange and gentle spice heat from the coriander seed, which added textural crunch along with the tartness from the red wine vinegar.
