For over three centuries, Metzger & Söhne have been producing the Original Lebkuchen of Vienna at the highest quality serving customers in Vienna and around the world. Since 1758, the Lebkuchen and candle shop on Stephansplatz in Vienna has brought the Lebkuchendirectly to the Habsburg court of Empress Maria Theresa.
The original Lebkuchen chocolates and Lebkuchen pralines, like the traditional Viennese Herrenkuchen, are tailor-made for the opulent Viennese taste. The traditionally, handmade Lebkuchen are refined with different types of delicate marzipan, fruit or nut fillings and covered with high-quality chocolate. Most Lebkuchen in our assortment today are covered with crisp chocolate and topped with fruits or nuts.
Just like the last 300 years, our Lebkuchen consists exclusively of natural ingredients and pure Austrian honey. The Lebkuchen dough is made according to our original recipe and matures for over half a year. The raw dough is only lightly spiced for further processing and baked into hearty, juicy Lebkuchen without the addition of eggs, fats or any preservatives. Because of the high Honey content, Lebkuchen has a naturally long shelflife of minimum 6 Month.
The Pralines are packed by hand in highest quality Praline Boxes and traditionally into Lebkuchen tins that are specially designed for Christmas or in the Metzger & Soehne Design.
