Abando Red Vendimia Seleccionada 2018 RIOJA DOQ– SANTALBA – full and silky red wine

DESCRIPTION: This full and silky red wine is produced by the Santalba family estate, only in exceptional vintages, from tempranillo grapes grown in four special vineyards in Gimileo, in the heart of Rioja Alta. Vinification and aging: The grapes are lightly destemmed in the traditional manner. Fermentation at controlled temperature takes place in stainless steel tanks. The fermenting wine is macerated with manual pumping over until it reaches its maximum aging potential, first in French oak barrels for 13 months and then 2 months in American oak barrels, giving rise to an elegant, subtly balanced wine with good aging potential. Tasting notes: – Appearance: Dark cherry red color with a slight tawny edge. –Nose: Intense aromas of black fruits, with notes of candied orange peel, pepper and aromatic herbs. –Palate: Full-bodied mouth with a certain richness of texture, a beautiful acidity, warm and intense. Aging potential: 7 to 10 years Recommended serving temperature: 16 °C Consumption recommendation: Open and air at least 1 hour before tasting. Food and wine pairings: Grilled meat, duck with orange sauce, cold meats, mature cheeses.
