Leonardo 2017 – FIKARDOS – full-bodied and elegant red wine

DESCRIPTION: This full-bodied and elegant red wine is produced by Fikardos, a family-run estate located in the Paphos wine region of Cyprus, whose aim is to create wines that reveal the true character of Cyprus. Vinification and aging: The grapes are cold macerated for 3 days, then in contact with the skins for 10 days, and alcoholic fermentation is carried out at 22-24°C, followed by malolactic fermentation. Finally, the wine is aged for 10 months in oak barrels to soften its tannins and develop its aromatic complexity and its aging potential. Tasting notes: – Appearance: Ruby red color. –Nose: Aromas of prune, blackberry, cherry jam, green pepper, dark chocolate, and clove. –Palate: It is both full-bodied and silky, with real elegance, with predominant flavors of candied fruits, and a very nice length. Aging potential: > 10 years Recommended serving temperature: 16-18°C Recommended consumption: Open and air at least 1 hour before tasting. Food Pairings: Beef stew, smoked pulled pork, T-bone steak and the traditional Cypriot dish Kleftiko.
