Chattai are floor mats woven in villages in India, and in Asia, they cover the floors of houses. They are woven by hand from natural materials in hemp and cotton yarn. Flexible, light, easy to move around homes, they soften contact with the ground and protect against heat. They perfectly dress the surfaces of the houses in an authentic and minimalist style, borrowing from the poetry of Arte Povera. They are juxtaposed, assembled to cover the floors. They bring a feeling of well-being to interiors and exteriors. They protect from the heat thanks to the insulating quality of hemp when you walk on them barefoot. They are also used as wall hangings. The combinations of natural, ecological, spun, dyed and hand-woven yarns give them a unique touch and feel. The hemp threads have a massaging effect softened by an organic cotton weft, the cotton threads provide softness. The threads of Chattaï Ocher have been dyed with 7 different colored threads to give it its unique gradient. The rugs are woven on traditional horizontal 2-arm wooden looms by our artisan weavers.
