MIRACULOUS: The Adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir is a French-Korean-Japanese animated series that began airing in 2015. It tells the story of two teenagers living in Paris, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, who transform as a superhero to protect the city from evil forces.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng is a college student who leads a completely ordinary life, with her passion for fashion and her crush on the charming Adrien Agreste. However, she was chosen to become Ladybug, a superhero who has the power to create and heal. She is the guardian of the Ladybug Miraculous, an enchanted jewel that gives its wearer incredible powers. Marinette is courageous, determined, and uses her intelligence to thwart the villains' plans.
For his part, Adrien Agreste is a reserved and popular boy who is also a famous model, son of designer Gabriel Agreste. However, behind this appearance, he is Cat Noir, the guardian of the Cat Noir Miraculous which gives him powers of destruction and bad luck. Cat Noir is bold, mischievous and always ready to say a good word, even in the middle of a fight.
Ladybug and Cat Noir's greatest enemy is the Papillon, who has the power to create supervillains by exploiting people's negative feelings. Her goal is to seize the Miraculouses from Ladybug and Cat Noir to make her wish come true, which could have terrible consequences for the world.
An important aspect of the series is the secret identities of the main characters. While Marinette is in love with Adrien in their civilian lives, Adrien (as Cat Noir) is in love with Ladybug. Thus, a loving quartet is formed between the same two people, creating comic and dramatic situations.
