Monte Bluna is a boutique winery from Portugal, Lisbon, producing fine wines with own grapes AOC/DOC Arruda. Arruda dos Vinhos is one of the ancients and best winemaking regions of Portugal (hence the name “dos Vinhos” – of the Wines). Monte Bluna takes advantage of the rare terroir conditions Arruda has to offer, allied with altitude, an innovation that Monte Bluna introduced as it chose the highest places of Lisbon region to produce all its wines.
Monte Bluna’s practices sustainable agriculture (integrated production) being its main pillar balance - it uses no herbicides or similar products guaranteeing preservation and diversity. The oenology is 100% qualitative oriented, without mimicry or masks. Monte Bluna uses no commercial yeast or other oenological products, and its minimal intervention wines express the variety, the year, the location and all cultural operations, believing in absolute control and involvement as a vehicle for minimalism.
Monte Bluna handcrafts special wines, giving its unique vineyards the expression, balance, time and voice. We are proud of having our wines commercialized in michelin star and high-end restaurants, in the best hotels and in the most prestigious cellars wine shops, groceries and gourmet shops.
Currently Monte Bluna has 4 exclusive wine brands, all with numbered bottles and limited productions:
1. Bluníssima, wine from old vineyards only released in the best years
2. Tictac, international varietal wines with labels made of wood (e.g. merlot, syrah)
3. Monte Bluna Reserva, wines blended with the best grapes of the estate each year
4. Monte Bluna Rare Varietals, low-alcohol gastronomical wines made with very rare indigenous varieties (e.g. Tinta Miúda, Vital)
