The sun is the central image of a cycle of eleven murals created in 1911 for the University of Oslo, which use a stripe technique that Munch had already developed in other paintings. An explosion of light, quite different from the darkness of "The Scream": the color brings to life a multitude of different shades, reflected in the water of a Norwegian fjord in a style so innovative that it is reminiscent of abstract art. © Fine Art Images - ARTOTHEK
