Vincent van Gogh - Field of Irises near Arles

Van Gogh was fascinated by the colors of the landscape around the city of Arles. He especially loved the contrast between the yellow and purple flowers in the fields. He believed that the landscape reflected the world he knew from his collection of Japanese prints, and he incorporated elements of their techniques into his paintings. ©Van Gogh Museum, © VGME B.V.
