Namibian myrrh (Commiphora wildii), the resin of a thorny, shrub-like tree, is traditionally wild-harvested by the women of the Himba tribe in north-western Namibia. The harvest of this resin is sustainable as only naturally excreted resin is collected. The resin is brought to a tribal processing facility and processed. The precious essential oil is obtained there from the sun-kissed resin by means of steam distillation. It is 100% natural and free from any additives. The essential oil has been used since ancient times for its healing powers, rejuvenating effects on body and mind, and in sacred rituals. The aroma is fresh, soft and slightly spicy. The essential oil of Namibian myrrh is rich in antioxidants and has an anti-inflammatory effect. This essential oil is used in every Mbiri product. The properties are very diverse: antiseptic, antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, soothing and moisturizing. Aromatherapeutic properties include relaxing and calming effects. For inflamed skin, acne, redness, dryness, cuts or scrapes and itching, apply 2-4 drops of oil directly to the affected area. No dilution required except for the very sensitive skin. Add a few drops to bath water for relaxing and soothing aromatherapy. Also suitable for aroma lamps, fragrance lamps, indoor fountains, potpourri, scented wood and much more.
