Depending on the type of meat used (e.g. young or older animal) and its condition, the contents of the can can vary. The muscle meat consists u. connective tissue containing collagen. Tendons and cartilage are also made of collagen. During cooking, this collagen very slowly turns into gelatine - that soft, slimy mass that is also known from cake glaze. This gelatine, in turn, is responsible for the meat not drying out, but becoming juicier the longer it cooks. Since we do not use binding agents at all, the consistency is subject to uncontrollable fluctuations. So if there is more meat broth or gelatine in the can, that has nothing to do with the quality. On the contrary, the dogs even love this slimy part. This is in the can: - Sheep muscle meat: Sheep meat is a collective term that includes the meat of animals of different ages (from young lambs to adult sheep) and sexes. It is rich in protein, B-group vitamins, iron, zinc and niacin. Sheep/lamb is very lean meat because it contains less than four percent fat. The protein content, on the other hand, is significant. It also provides dogs with essential fatty acids, which have a positive effect on skin metabolism and ensure a shiny dog coat. - Heart (sheep): strictly speaking, it is a muscle, although the organ is often listed separately due to its exceptional nutritional content and treated as offal when feeding dogs. It has a high protein content, hardly any fat and therefore few calories. It is very rich in vitamins and full of minerals. - Lungs (sheep): offal, like the lungs, contain a lot of vitamins A, D and C and have a high water content. Our pure meat should not be fed pure. On the one hand, because we put our philosophy to heart: "A clear conscience with every bite", and that means less meat in the bowl.
