Ajwa organic dates

The sacred date from the nutrient-rich volcanic fields around Medina in Saudi Arabia. The round shape and unique, deep black color are characteristic of this date. In terms of taste, it can hardly be compared with any other variety. The Ajwa has an intense, strong aroma, is spicy and much less sweet than most other types of dates. The flesh of the Ajwa is semi-dry but still soft. To understand the meaning of the Ajwa date, it helps to take a look at history: According to legend, the prophet Mohammed inquired about the well-being of women in Medina. Despite their household chores and as the mothers of many children, they are said to have always been well. A woman named "Ajwa" told the Prophet that she ate the dates from the surrounding palm trees every day. As a result, the Prophet Mohammed is said to have named the date variety after this woman. During Ramadan, the fast is ended at the end of the day with three Ajwa dates and a glass of water.
