Hibiscus petals are obtained from the flowers of the Hibiscus sabdariffa plant, also known as Roselle. This plant is native to West Africa, but is also grown in many other parts of the world, including Asia and Central America. Hibiscus petals have a tart, fruity and slightly sweet taste. They have a flavor reminiscent of cranberry or lemon, with a floral touch. Hibiscus petals can be used in a variety of beverages including teas, infusions, juices, smoothies and cocktails. They can also be used to flavor fruit salads, marinades and sauces. To prepare hibiscus tea, boil water and pour over a tablespoon of hibiscus petals.
