Simone de Beauvoir

Simone de Beauvoir 1908-1986) was a French writer and philosopher. She was a modern woman ahead of her time who participated in social movements and specifically fought for the legalization of abortion in France. She is perhaps most famous for the work The Other Sex, one of the greatest classics in feminist theorizing. Industrial designer Jan Landqvist is responsible for the idea and design of Novellix bookends. The bookends are made in Gnosjö in Småland and are made of cut and bent sheet steel that has been treated with a black, durable powder coating. The dimensions are 15×15 cm for the portraits and 10×15 cm for the base plate. Designer: Landqvist, Jan
