•TCM: A powerful health system

With several thousand years of existence and practice, Traditional Chinese Medicine has developed a complete system, that is to say a set of theories and practices concerning human beings and their health. It has its own tools and its particular way of interpreting the causes of diseases, making diagnoses and conceiving physiology. It is an ancient and complex discipline which uses 5 main practices:
- Acupuncture and moxibustion
- Massages: TUINA
- Energy gymnastics: QI GONG
- Chinese dietetics
- The Chinese pharmacopoeia, which has enjoyed a millennium of unprecedented use.

The general principle is to maintain harmony of energy (Qi) within the body, as well as between the body and external elements.

•How has NUENCE transferred the main principles of TCM to a range of cosmetics?

Ancient Chinese scientists correlated all cycles: states of wakefulness and sleep, the rhythm of functioning of the human body down to the cycle of a cell, with the cycles of nature.
To help analyze the needs of the body and mind, they subdivided everything that surrounds us and composes us, into five large interdependent groups inspired by nature, the 5 elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

•The 5 elements
Our skin cells go through cycles. Our creams naturally use this principle of the 5 element cycle applied to the cells of our skin.

Wood: skin cells are very active in full expansion or subject to hormonal variations making the skin sometimes oilier or more reactive.

Fire: the cells are always in an active, sensitive phase, sometimes going as far as irritation.

Earth: cells are in periods without major disturbances with a need for hydration essential to life but only balance is sought.

Metal: cells are in less active multiplication periods and appear duller.

Water: cells are even less active, and their regeneration speed is lower because we may be more tired or because the cold freezes our energies.

•Nuence and the Chinese Pharmacopoeia

Nuence has decided to highlight TCM plants, known for their benefits for 3,500 years but, until now, little used in cosmetic products. The plants that we have selected have been selected for their affinity with their favorite element but also because they have proven effectiveness in cosmetology.
In partnership with our herbalist, we have selected, from more than 300 medicinal plants, those best suited to meet the needs of the skin.
By combining these plants with modern active ingredients, NUENCE offers an original combination between ancestral know-how and modernity.

To confirm the brand's anchoring in the fundamentals of TCM, each of the new NUENCE products will be developed specifically to respond to the needs and imbalances of the skin during the cycle of the seasons and life as described in the theory of the 5 elements. .
We relied on this same ancestral philosophy to “take care”, rebalance, nourish through external use and using this magnificent discipline that is Chinese pharmacopoeia.

All NUENCE products are made in France with a minimum of 95% ingredients of natural origin, dermatologically tested, Vegan and PETA Cruelty free.
