Hibiscus flowers

Hibiscus sabdariffa is native to West Africa. Young shoots and leaves are eaten like a vegetable. Its flowers are consumed in hot or cold infusions. They are also used in sauces or for jams. The drink is called karkadé (or carcadé) in Egypt, bissap in Senegal.
