The idea of creating the company Due Fanti for exporting Italian products, in particular olive oil, was born after studying at the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, (VA) as exchange students. In fact, while we were in the United States, we experienced many difficulties in finding a truly great extra-virgin olive oil.
Once we returned home to Italy, we thought of bringing Crastu, a unique and ancient cultivar of olive oil, to the US and abroad. We started to plan how to make it possible, and at this point it was late 2017.
In 2018, back in Sicily, we explained our idea, our experience and our goal to the producer and his family. So, in a hot afternoon in August in northern Sicily on a land far from towns and anything resembling the modern world, we began our collaboration.
As we started to work on the business-side of things, it took over one year to create the company, choose what we believed was the right bottle and lid, the label design, the company name, and all other details, both big and small. While we had differing opinions on some matters, our end goal has always remained the same, as stated in our mission.
During the first week of October 2019, we went to the farm and followed the entire process, step by step, which transformed the olives into our oil. That day, Olio Gorgone was made for its first time. However, one last step was missing: it was time to take off the cloak and make it real, legally establishing and settling the company. In December 2019, after over 2 years of planning and discussing details, our idea became the company Due Fanti.
