
Organic hulled oats are a food that is still little known in Italy, but widely used in Anglo-Saxon countries, where they are one of the main ingredients of breakfast. Oltresole organic oats, grown in Italy and offered in 1 kg packs, are whole hulled grains, ideal for preparing tasty vegan or vegetarian recipes. While rolled oats are often eaten raw, with milk or yogurt for a nutritious breakfast, the whole grain version is perfect for soups, stews and salads. Unlike oat flakes, these grains maintain all their original nutritional properties, offering a high intake of fiber, B vitamins and mineral salts (such as iron, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and copper). Before cooking, it is important to rinse the oats under running water to eliminate any impurities and it is recommended to leave them to soak to shorten cooking times and make them softer. After soaking, it can be boiled for 40–50 minutes.
