Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). It was first used as a dye and then later for its medicinal properties. Peppery and fresh aroma, with a light scent of orange and ginger. Very slightly pungent, bitter and astringent taste. Highly appreciated in South Asia for its musky fragrance and golden color. Directions for use: Fish, sauces, lentils, beans. Digestive, liver stimulant, diuretic, warming.
