Organic extra virgin olive oil Crete Messara

The Messara Valley is located in the south of Crete. It is the largest area of Crete and this plain is surrounded by mountains and sea. To the north of the plain lie the Ida Mountains and south of it the Asterousia Mountains. In the west lies the Gulf of Messara and in the east the Dikti Mountains. The Messara is a fertile valley with a lot of agriculture. The river Geropotamos flows through the fertile plain and supplies the water for numerous cultivation areas, so that intensive agriculture is possible in this rain-poor area. Our olives are exclusively grown organically in a controlled manner and are free of artificial additives. We use 100% vintage and single origin Koroneiki olives for our olive oil. With a share of around 60%, the Koroneiki olive is the most common oil-olive variety in Greece. Koroneiki olive oil is considered to be one of the best olive oils in the world, both in terms of taste and composition. The small, resilient Koroneiki olive is typical of the steep slopes of the Greek peninsula Peloponnese as well as Crete. Because although the variety is otherwise easy to care for (it can withstand heat, but also frost down to -7 ° C), the trees do not like to stand in water and therefore cannot be artificially watered. This olive variety has an intense fragrance and a fruity, slightly lemony aroma. Its characteristic, pleasant taste also has light notes of pepper and wild herbs. Without the addition of artificial substances or flavor enhancers, lactose-free, vegan, gluten-free
