In 1885, Papier d'Armée was born thanks to Auguste Ponsot who, during a trip to Armenia, discovered the tradition of burning benzoin in homes. Benzoin is a resin obtained from various plants of the Styrax genus. Immediately seduced by this traditional and ecological practice, he decided to import this idea to France. His partner, Henri Rivier, then had the idea of mixing this raw material with other ingredients for a persistent perfume. They chose blotting paper, a fiber of natural origin, to absorb and diffuse this odor. This is why Papier d’Armenia are interior perfumes in the form of scented brown paper to consume. It is also and above all a responsible company that cares about the environment. Armenian paper is certified by an international organization which promotes responsible forest management.
