Aino + Alvar Aalto

A visual biography of Aino and Alvar Aalto, the architectural couple who designed some of the most iconic buildings and objects of the 20th century Founders of Artek, Aino and Alvar Aalto created some of the most remarkable buildings and objects of the XXth century.   Based on the unpublished letters that they exchanged or sent to their friends, family and colleagues, as well as numerous documents, drawings and family photos, the grandson of Aino and Alvar tells the life together of Aino and Alvar Aalto, in Finland and abroad, until Aino's death in 1949.   Heikki Aalto-Alanen is the grandson of architects Aino and Alvar Aalto.   Continuing the work and artistic legacy of his grandparents, he was vice-president of the Alvar Aalto Foundation, a member of the board of directors of Artek and the board of the Alvar Aalto Academy.   A lawyer by profession, he has also worked in the world of finance.
