It all started in 2015 with Margaux and Thomas, a passionate and complementary duo. Margaux, a physiotherapist by profession, has always been fascinated by handmade products, curious to discover and experiment with new artisanal techniques. For his part, Thomas, an entrepreneur at heart since his early years, worked in buying and selling, but aspired to give meaning to his activity. Together, we found an obvious fit in candle making, a world where Margaux's creativity and Thomas' entrepreneurial spirit were able to naturally merge to give birth to La Bougiterie.
The beginnings were modest, but driven by unwavering determination. In a small studio on the 5th floor without an elevator, in the heart of Strasbourg, we spent years tirelessly carrying 20 kg bags of wax, one by one, to our improvised workshop in the kitchen. Between the shelves filled with molds, scented oils and abundant ideas, each creation was a real challenge, but also a source of pride.
Our first sales took place in a local mall, a moment that was both exciting and intimidating. It was the first real test, the first confrontation with the public. Then, a dream opportunity presented itself: being selected to exhibit at the Christmas markets in Colmar and Strasbourg, two emblematic events in the region. It was a turning point. Thomas deployed all his expertise to optimize the stands, making them attractive and efficient, while Margaux perfected the manufacturing techniques, carefully selecting the best raw materials to offer unique candles, as beautiful as they are authentic.
The year 2022 marks a decisive turning point for La Bougiterie. No more endless stairs and limited space: purchasing a hangar in Schiltigheim has given our business a new dimension. More comfort, more space, and above all, a real capacity to meet growing demand. This change has made it possible to structure production and dream bigger, opening up new perspectives for the future.
In 2024, the adventure was enriched with new energies with the arrival of Maxime and Erika, two long-time friends who share our values. Their presence brings a breath of fresh air and new skills to the team, further consolidating our shared dream. Maxime, with his operational approach and attentive listening to customers, has become the voice of La Bougiterie, while Erika, who comes straight from the world of pastry, enhances our gourmet candles with her talent and precision.
Today, we are proud to be able to meet growing demand while remaining faithful to our artisanal values. Each step taken has allowed us to improve our processes and offer quality products. We are fortunate to be able to count on the trust of our customers, who encourage us to surpass ourselves and continue our development with ambition and rigor.
