Playmobil is an iconic toy brand created in 1974 by the German company Geobra Brandstätter. The idea was born from the impetus of Hans Beck, a designer of the company, who designed 7.5 cm figurines, adapted to children's hands and with a simplified but expressive design. Faced with the oil crisis of the 1970s, the company sought to reduce the use of plastic and turned to these small characters, accompanied by accessories and immersive sets.
First presented at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in 1974, the first Playmobil themes – knights, workers and Indians – met with immediate success. Over the decades, the range has expanded with varied universes: pirates, western, police, space, as well as licenses and special editions.
Today, Playmobil is a major player in the global toy industry, appreciated for its quality, durability and awakening power, with millions of figurines sold each year.
