We bring Nepalese table culture to Europe and environmental protection with us! We are Kati, Adem and Paul, and we produce your sustainable tableware and the most social packaging solution since hand-me-downs in Nepal. Right from the start, our goal was to make the world a little more plastic-free, true to the motto: reduce and recycle. During temple visits and cooking classes in Nepal, we noticed that fresh leaves were often used as plates for meals.
In Dorsten, North Rhine-Westphalia, we developed the idea of making the leaf-shaped plates known to the German market. At Pleta, sustainability, fairness and transparency are paramount, from raw materials through to production and sales. Because we want to give you a breeze of joy and spread a little love with every plate you use. Our production takes place in Nepal. The Areca palm grows there. This naturally sheds eight to nine leaves per year. We borrow this one raw material. The palm trees can continue to grow undamaged and no areas have to be cleared, as the Areca palm has been cultivated for its fruit for centuries. We obtain the leaves from existing plantations. This creates a new source of income for the farmers. Our plates are washed with water from our own well, dried and pressed into shape with heat. The water remains clean and is used to irrigate surrounding fields. We don't need anything more.
Our team in Nepal, consisting of 13 women, 13 fairly paid jobs with good working conditions, 13 families that are supported by us.
We were awarded the German Sustainability Award in 2022 for the project and the product.
