While spending time in the US in the 90's, the popularity of iced tea and the volume of its consumption really did grab my attention.
Many years later, back home in Ireland ‘sugar’ and the health implications associated with its high consumption became a concerning issue. The spotlight was firmly fixed on the beverage category as one of the main culprits. People were also becoming more health conscious and educated in the benefits of green tea.
In 2011, my journey started to fix this beverage problem and elbow this culprit into a smaller corner of the market. I discovered in my research that consumers wanted healthy and functional food & drinks to achieve a healthy lifestyle and maximise their lifespan. I also discovered that green tea has a compound called EGCG which is a powerful antioxidant that has myriad health benefits including helping boost your metabolism.
My decision was made when I married the ‘sugar’ problem and the green tea benefits to produce a naturally healthy and functional beverage. Our unique process of brewing the green tea leaves in small batches, extracts all of the flavours and powerful EGCG antioxidants. It is lightly carbonated to create a refreshing mouthfeel, resulting in a delicious, flavourful and non-alcoholic alternative to soft drinks.
As well as our original blend, we offer 2 variants with only botanicals added; Berry and Lemon & Lime infusions. With no sugars, sweeteners or calories, our tea's are perfect for 'on-the-go' or as a zero calorie mixer.
