My book is a family adventure, since everyone pitched in, from my 82-year-old aunt who created an illustration, to my husband and my children who helped me find and test all the recipes. Thank you to the various lockdowns that gave me time to create! 🌞 From the creation to the production of this book, we have tried to respect the environment as much as possible. It was designed, written and manufactured in France to reduce its carbon footprint. In order to limit travel and facilitate exchanges, we chose a printer located near our in-house laboratory and our reserve of coffee grounds. Labeled Imprim’Vert and PEFC certified, this printer has its own binding and shaping workshop: this book is therefore made entirely on site. Finally, within its integrated ESAT, the printing company employs disabled workers who take care of putting the notebooks in sleeves, labeling them and sending them. We hesitated to use recycled paper, but because recycling today requires a lot of water, energy and chemical steps to deink the paper, we preferred a PEFC offset paper from forests managed for paper use. Offset printing uses chemical-free CTP (computer to plate) technology and inks packaged in large recycled drums, which are mainly of plant origin. Why this book? I have worked in publishing since 1998 as a foreign rights agent. But with time, confinements, and the observation of a publishing world that is increasingly mercantile and too often disrespectful of our planet, the desire to try to do differently has emerged. Working differently on a small scale, putting quality and people at the heart of the project while trying to respect our environment as much as possible and improve our daily footprint.
