How ecology reinvents politics

The rise of the ecological emergency is not only upsetting the political chessboards. It calls into question our lifestyles, our ways of consuming, producing, financing and governing, and therefore the dominant model of the economy of wealth. To absorb this shock wave, and make the most of it, it will not be enough to "green" our practices or to criticize the powers in place. Another framework of thought will be needed: this is the ambition of this book. Based on the analysis of the "satisfaction systems" that preceded and prepared the current consumer society and on the examples of local authorities that have succeeded in engaging in effective ecological conversions, Jean Haëntjens lays the foundations for what could be an economy of satisfactions. He then uses this framework to build concrete and unprecedented responses to three contemporary challenges: - the inertia of our societies in the face of the ecological emergency - the implosion of democracy, - the rise of of a cybercapitalism that aspires to rule the world. Beyond his conceptual contribution, Jean Haëntjens proposes a political method based on the notion of satisfaction. It is aimed at all those who want to bring about a society compatible with the limits of the planet.
