Ida grew up in the Netherlands, in a drab suburb of a medium-sized provincial town. After studying political science, she wanted to make herself useful and chose to become a climatologist. She obtained an internship of a few months in Italy, in a research institute responsible for working on the demolition of a dam in the Alps. This mission forces him to leave the Netherlands and leave Robin, his girlfriend, behind. Throughout the pages, his reflections on love mingle with those on global warming, the two being intrinsically linked. In this A first novel in a very audacious style, Lieke Marsman manages, through the use of snippets, excerpts, quotations and verses of all kinds, to bring the reader into the mental, chimerical and fascinating universe of Ida.
