My Challenge Nothing New

Launched by the Zero Waste France association in January 2018, the "Nothing New Challenge" invites everyone to reduce their purchases of new objects for a year, i.e. to reflect on the impact of their daily consumption and to find alternative solutions, such as repair, barter, loan or second hand... In this practical guide, Emmanuelle Vibert looks back on the challenge a year later and shares all the keys to succeeding in this challenge on a daily basis: advice, testimonials, addresses, recipes, tutorials, etc. After a preamble that encourages the reader to join the challenge, the different consumer sectors are discussed: household appliances, clothing, digital, family life, home, cultural products and transport. Each chapter begins by recalling the ecological impact of an object and its sector, then goes around the possible alternatives in the form of a practical notebook and concludes with a report which highlights the ecological, financial and personal benefits of the approach. The book is therefore a veritable toolbox for people who wish to gradually change their mode of consumption and, in turn, adopt the “Nothing New Challenge”.
