A story of family, roots and tradition.
Sabaton, a family confectionery born in the heart of the Ardèche chestnut grove in 1907, has become a reference throughout the world!
1907
The story begins at the restaurant of the Terminus Hotel in Labégude. Paul Roch Sabaton, its owner and cook, starts a production of prepared dishes and canned mushrooms. He quickly added chestnut cream, which was an immediate success from 1909 onwards. The first box of candied chestnuts followed in December 1911.
2014 The Ardèche Chestnut is recognized as a Protected Designation of Origin, a sign of quality at the European level. This is the culmination of a long process by the industry, to which Christophe Sabaton contributed his support (he chaired the Interprofessional Committee from 2010 to 2013).
Today, the company remains family-owned and true to its original values:
transforming local fruits into quality products for professionals and gourmets.
