Our company was founded in Langhirano in 1959 when Giuseppe Grassi, until then a wine merchant, began to salt some thighs that he had bartered with the farmers to whom he sold wine and grapes.
His great passion for his work and the historical moment of extraordinary development lead to a rapid growth of the business. The small initial establishment nearby from about 5.000 hams is progressively enlarged up to a capacity of 40.000 pieces and Salumificio Grassi Giuseppe is one of the first companies to join the Parma Ham Consortium, which was born in those years.
In 1980 a new factory was built with a production capacity of 100.000 pieces: it is the Salumificio La Torre. Doubled in 2000 to bring production to 200.000 pieces, becomes one of the largest companies in the sector.
Our company has been producing Parma DOP ham for over 60 years, the result of long and patient processing that leads to a product that is essential in its naturalness, without preservatives or additives.
