Some confuse it with Marseille soap but Castile soap is rather its ancestor. It is the gentlest soap, due to its composition with only olive oil as a fatty substance. And saponified olive oil is the least detergent, but also the least foaming, but it is not necessarily the foam that is important, especially for those looking for an ultra-gentle soap.
