Soeji

The name “Soeji” (pronounced Suji) comes from Javanese and means something like “pure” or “unadulterated” – exactly what defines our products.
 
 When we came across several small woven goods workshops by chance during a stay in Claudia's homeland of Indonesia in the summer of 2019, we quickly recognized the potential of these great handmade home accessories.   We started talking to the owners and it became clear that they were interested in implementing our designs.
 
 Since then, we have designed and produced many great boho-style products based on traditional patterns, put together a small but fine range of products and finally made them available to a larger audience in our online shop in June 2020.
 
 We only use natural, environmentally friendly materials (which would otherwise often have ended up in the trash as waste products or weeds) and the work of experienced Indonesian artisans for our home and fashion accessories.   Every sale of our handmade products sustainably supports the rural population in their livelihood.   Older people in particular who can no longer work in agriculture benefit greatly from the jobs that these workshops create.
 
 Through our close cooperation with local small producers without intermediaries and long communication channels, we can guarantee very good working conditions and wages and can precisely trace the origin of the raw materials.
 
 A pleasant side effect for you is fair prices, where you can be sure that a lot of it goes to the producers and little goes to large international corporations.
