Everyone has probably heard "Raki" somewhere, but very few will have tried it. The ancestor of the aniseed - this also includes pastis in France and ouzo in Greece - had its origins more than 500 years ago in the Ottoman Empire, from there it conquered the hearts of the entire Mediterranean region and Europe. Traditionally, this raki is still distilled from ripe grapes and anise in a copper kettle, today by two friends in Augsburg. The little Habibi is best enjoyed diluted with ice water, in good company with small dishes and loyal friends. The taste of this raki is soft and elegant, with pleasant fruity notes and intense aniseed.
