I used 2 mm sterling silver wire to forge the outlined heart, which I then soldered, hammered and polished. CARING FOR STERLING SILVER Sterling silver jewelry, if not worn for long periods of time, may develop a patina, which is easily removed with a silver polishing cloth, available in all diy stores or, if you want to “do it yourself”, wet the Silver piece in water. Apply a small amount of fluoride toothpaste on the silver. Rub the toothpaste into the silver slowly keeping it wet. Rub till toothpaste takes an almost black appearance. Let sit for about 2 minutes. Wash away the toothpaste. The silver will show immediate improvement.
