Khadi Indigo Moon Cushion

Hand woven thick cotton cushion cover, dyed blue with natural indigo in a rustic style. 60cmx 60cm. Decorated with large circles on one side and geometric patterns on the other. Each piece is handmade, so there will be small irregularities. Made by a community of weavers near Jaipur in India. History: In a small, bustling village not far from the majestic Rajput city of Jaipur, there is a family textile workshop using traditional, sustainable dyeing techniques. The fabrics are decorated using a resist dyeing technique. The designs are applied using block stamps from a local mixture of mud and gum, then covered with sawdust. They are then dried and dyed in vats in the garden. The mud mixture is then removed, revealing the pattern that escaped the dye. In this workshop, natural colors are sourced in the region. Our textiles dyed here are khadi, hand-woven, made in another village by a cooperative of weavers located a few hours to the west... The cotton we use is unbleached, meaning it is not treated with chemicals to create a uniform color before dyeing. This is an important decision in our choice of producers, as the chemicals used to treat textiles can be harmful to the environment. It is important that we make an effort at each stage of production to choose a more environmentally friendly way of producing.
