With the second gin in the Ugly series, Pienaar & Son has translated another exciting story from South Africa into a gin: African love and reverence for fire. On the one hand there are the bush fires, which can certainly mean danger in South Africa, but at the same time are the origin of new life and play an essential role in the fauna of South Africa. On the other hand, the evening open fires around which family and friends gather and make up a large part of the South African attitude to life. It is precisely this love for the open fire and nature that the "Burnt Orange & Sage" gin brings to the well-known ugly bottle. Ugly "Burnt Orange" has a distinct aroma of orange smoked over Rooikrans, a coastal acacia tree native to South Africa. In addition, a bouquet of gin-typical spices around juniper, which is rounded off by a herbal finish of wild sage. The taste shows an elegant smoky note, which gives the gin another exciting level. The quality of the brandy does not actually need to be mentioned by André Pienaar, but here too his special craftsmanship is shown once again. As always, macerated on the basis of home-made corn brandy, his fourth product has a great melt-in-the-mouth flavor and, despite its 43% vol, is also a real treat on its own. The ugly message remains the same as with Grapefruit & Goji: 100% artisanal production from purely natural ingredients, 100% passion for extraordinary spirits, 0% marketing and no elaborate packaging, no show or gimmicks. As it says on the bottle: "paying for the liquid, not everything else"
