NUTMEG (WHOLE)

Nutmeg is the seed from the fruit of the nutmeg tree. This is made up of the kernel and the nutmeg, covered with a hard shell which is itself covered with a mesh called mace, also used in cooking in the same way as nutmeg. This spice gives dishes very aromatic and slightly sweet flavors. Nutmeg is a must in béchamel sauce, it also goes very well with cream and eggs, potatoes, cauliflower in gratins and mashed potatoes. It can be used grated or powdered.Origin: Indonesia
