Kateb Yacine, born in 1929 in Constantine and died in 1989 in Grenoble, is a writer, poet, novelist, playwright, director, essayist and Algerian journalist, originally from Aurès. He is one of the most important figures in Algerian literature and remains, even today, a symbol of the revolt against all forms of injustice. Kateb Yacine is particularly known for her novel, Nedjma.
