How Ru Kiln Porcelain Was Created Porcelain from the Ru kiln has a beautiful smooth glassy glaze that covers the entire piece including the edges of the mouth and feet. 

This is due to the fact that the Ru kiln pieces were supported by thin pieces, called studs that left three or five small indentations, about the size of sesame seeds, in the base of the porcelain piece. 

The studs allowed the enamel to cover the entire container.
